Community Brotherhood Organization

 

  The Orientation program of the “Prevention and Empowerment” by the Community Brotherhood Organization with the aim of minimizing various forms of violence against women and girls in the gender-based society was held at The Lawn Reception hall, Negombo on January 21, 2025. Government officials from the Katana and Negombo Divisional Secretariat Divisions, officers from the Children and Women Bureau of the Negombo and Katana Police Stations, Katana and Negombo Medical Health Officers, the District Women's Development Coordinator, the District NGO Coordinator, the Legal Officer of the Negombo Legal Aid Commission, the Samurdhi Bank Managers, civil organizations and women leaders, participated for this program.   

  The Commencement of the 2025 New Year Activities of the Community Brotherhood Organization and the Executive Council Meeting were held on January 4, 2025 at the Community Brotherhood Office. The Executive Council of the organization met for this occasion. After lighting a traditional coconut oil lamp and eating a meal, the organization's programs for 2025 were planned and the organization's progress in the past year was discussed.  

Spring of Love is a grassroots organization working to promote peace and reconciliation, human rights, diversity and inclusion in Sri Lankan society. It carries out this work by sharing knowledge on Non-violent conflict transformation, Socio-Ethnic Diversity (SOGIESC) and Sexual and Reproductive Health. As a further step in taking this knowledge to grassroots community-based organizations, a knowledge sharing dialogue on Socio-Ethnic Diversity and Sexual Orientations (SOGISC) was held with the Community Brotherhood Organization on 29th August at the Community Brotherhood Organization’s office Negombo. At the event, knowledge was shared with volunteers and social activists engaged in various forms of social work and community-based activities on issues such as gender diversity, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and myths related to gender diversity, as well as the laws and regulations that discriminate against individuals based on gender diversity.  

Under the Actions for Religious Coexistence (ARC) program implemented by the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka, a discussion to identify the religious tensions and various problems faced by ethnic groups in Gampaha district will be held with the participation of members of non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations, civil activists, women leaders, and youth. It was held on the 27th of July 2024 at St. Stephen's Church, Negombo. The organization and partnership was done by Community Brotherhood Organization.
